Queens, New York
Jessica Ramos will host a special community forum focused on human trafficking awareness and worker exploitation on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Corona, Queens. According to the media advisory, the forum is titled “Behind the Hustle: The Reality of Work, Survival, and Exploitation.”
The event aims to bring together advocates, legal professionals, educators, healthcare experts, and community organizations to discuss the realities of human trafficking and labor exploitation affecting immigrant and working-class communities across New York, particularly concerns surrounding Roosevelt Avenue.

The program will feature discussions and presentations from several experts and organizations, including immigration attorney Lina Stillman, representatives from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Libertas Center for Human Rights, Mount Sinai/Elmhurst Hospital, Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo, Voces Latinas, John Jay College, and the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.
The forum will take place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with check-in beginning at 9:30 AM, at P.S. 19Q – The Marino Jeantet School. Organizers say the event will provide residents with information, resources, and opportunities for open community dialogue regarding exploitation, labor rights, and survivor support.
Media opportunities at the event will include remarks from Senator Ramos, expert panel discussions, interviews with advocates and service providers, and visuals of community engagement activities.
“Human trafficking often hides in plain sight. Through education, awareness, and community action, we can protect vulnerable individuals and support survivors.”
